Primary responsibilities of the Electrician are providing electrical services to include repair and/or replacement needs; installing, maintaining and upgrading electrical systems and equipment. The Electrician assist other skilled trades in the maintenance or repair of equipment for the distribution, or utilization of electric energy. The ideal EMI Electrician has well rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.Salary $48.34/ hr. plus employer paid health benefits and pension!Key ResponsibilitiesAssemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, and fixturesTroubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and componentsConnect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other componentsInspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codesTest electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codesInstall ground leads and connect power cables to equipmentPlace conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxesProvide preliminary cost estimates for materials and servicesMaintain current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulationsPerforms other related duties as assignedEssential SkillsThorough knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment and systems used in the electrical tradeThorough knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical tradeKnowledge of building architectural/structural elements including; alterations and repairsMust be able to read and understand blueprints as appropriate to tradeAdaptable and flexible in work situationsPrioritizes tasks to ensure completion in a timely mannerPRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies – Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent3+ years’ experience maintenance electrician experience to include 2 years at a journeyman levelExperience must be in an industrial or commercial facilities maintenance environment MUST have a Top Secret Clearance Valid driver’s licensePass a pre-employment drug screening and background checkRegular, dependable attendance U. S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installationsPreferred QualificationsTS/SCICertified JourneymanPhysical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 50lbs unassistedUse of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walkingProlonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stoopingClimbing ladders and entering confined spacesMay spend long hours in awkward positions which can cause physical discomfort and strainMay stand for long periods and frequently work on ladders and scaffoldsWork both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditionsElectricians risk injury from electrical shock, falls, and cuts Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
