Attention All Mechanics!The City is hiring fleet mechanics at various levels to work on repairing and maintaining the City’s fleet of automotive and heavy vehicles and equipment.The following are general descriptions of the different Fleet Mechanic levels within the City and County of Honolulu.Fleet Mechanic I (BC-08): $5,286/month. This is an entry-level opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in the repair and maintenance of automotive and/or heavy vehicles and equipment and/or construction equipment. Therefore, persons selected for positions in this class must meet the minimum qualification requirements and be capable of successfully attaining the skills and qualifications required to satisfactorily progress to the journey level.Fleet Mechanic II (BC-10): $5,873/month. This level independently repairs and overhauls a variety of gasoline, diesel and alternative fuel vehicles and equipment that are part of the City’s fleet that includes but are not limited to the following: light vehicles and equipment (i.e., cars, light to medium trucks, etc.), construction equipment (i.e., front end loaders, paving machines, etc.), and heavy vehicles and equipment (i.e., refuse trucks, dump trucks, etc.); and performs other related duties as required.Fleet Mechanic III (BC-11): $6,087/month. This level independently repairs, maintains and overhauls a variety of heavy motorized vehicles and/or equipment in the City’s fleet (such as refuse trucks, dump trucks, cranes, bulldozers, rollers, graders, etc.), as a substantially full-time assignment; and performs other duties as required.Special Work Conditions: Depending on the department and position, you may be required to work on weekends and holidays and may be subject to rotating and/or night shift work.Current VacanciesFleet Mechanic II: There is one (1) vacancy with the Honolulu Police Department .If you qualify for the position, your name will be placed on an eligible list for the respective Fleet Mechanic level for further consideration. This list may be used to fill current and future vacancies in any City department with vacancies with these job titles.
