Schedule Requirements: Monday – Friday | 7:00AM – 3:30PMWorksite: Wimauma, FLIN A NUTSHELL… The General Mechanic is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and mechanical equipment within their scope of expertise.This includes electrical, heating, ventilation, overhead doors, plumbing, and other building systems.The role supports both preventative and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure operational continuity across all facility environments, including greenhouses and climate-controlled indoor areas.The cannabis industry is continuously evolving, so adaptability and a commitment to learning are essential. This position requires working in various environments, including exposure to high temperatures in outdoor greenhouse settings and climate-controlled indoor facilities.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING – EssentialsFollow all safety standards and regulations at the personal, departmental, and facility levels.Operate, install, maintain, and repair building systems and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pumps, motors, conveyors, compressors, and laboratory devices.Inspect and troubleshoot equipment issues; determine corrective actions and perform repairs.Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and maintenance manuals.Conduct basic plumbing tasks, including fixture installation and pipe repair.Perform electrical repairs within scope, including replacing outlets, wiring, and light fixtures.Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to schedules and document all work.Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools effectively to identify and resolve issues.Follow all company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area.Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to log tasks and updates.Assist with building and structural repairs as required.Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.RequiredEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU’LL BRINGAge 21 or overHigh School Diploma or equivalentValid Government-Issued Photo IDCompletion of a maintenance vocational/technical school or a recognized apprenticeship programMinimum 3 years’ experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of building structures, systems, and equipmentAbility to read blueprintsAbility to use hand tools and power toolsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsPrevious experience with CMMS systemsProficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipmentPreferredJourneyman Class B, Systems Contractor Class C, or Systems Technician Class D license.Broad knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.Familiarity with the cannabis industry or high-humidity/greenhouse environments.Physical RequirementsAbility to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environmentAbility to sit, stand, and do repetitive actions with your hands for long periodsAbility to see color to discern color-coded wiringAbility to lift to 50 pounds at a timeAbility to wear the required PPE, including but not limited to safety glasses and safety shoes.Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.General Environment RequirementsFrequent exposure to temperature extremes (e.g., hot greenhouse environments and cold indoor rooms).Exposure to environmental elements such as dust, fumes, allergens (including cannabis), plant material, and cleaning chemicals.Work in areas with noise, vibration, humidity, and varying lighting or air conditioning levels.WHAT YOU GET (Benefits)Employee discount (75% off products at Surterra dispensaries).Consistent, reliable benefits; Full medical/vision/dental, 401k with possibility of a company match, access to company-sponsored well-being programsBalance and flexibility; paid time off, paid parental leave, flexible work arrangementsTuition Reimbursement ProgramsPet InsuranceChance to make a difference; Employee Relief Fund, community volunteerism through our Parallel Cares programPARALLEL IS UNITED BY OUR VISION, MISSION, & VALUES Our Vision – why we exist – is to pioneer well-being and improve the quality of life for humanity through the benefits of cannabinoids.
