**The successful candidate must reside in the Houma/Thibodaux/Gray area to be considered for this position.**Claxton is a part of Acteon Group of subsea services businesses. We have a Global team with a singular mission, to make our clients projects happen.Claxton is looking to add an experienced, solution driven, Mechanical Engineer to the team. As a Mechanical Engineer, reporting to both the local site and remote Engineering Manager, you are responsible for the provision of design engineering services and expertise to both internal and external clients. This includes creating designs, calculations, FEA, drawings and control of the design elements of project work.**The successful candidate must reside in the Houma/Thibodaux/Gray area to be considered for this position.** DutiesCreate and check designs and provide design verification services (FEA, hand calculations) in support of key projectsCreate and check designs and drawings for manufacture, client review, quotation, in-house marketing, etc as requiredManage and control the design elements of projects alongside Project Engineers and other team membersProvide design-related input into kick-off, design review, project planning and other meetingsControl the design process and ensure all necessary requirements have been met in line with Claxton’s Internal Management SystemProvide details of the inspection and quality requirements of designsSupport design validation testing and commissioning activities on and offshoreMaintain electronic media and hardware in an appropriate mannerCheck engineering output produced by other team members and provide support to team members as requiredModify designs, documents, and drawings in accordance with Claxton’s internal proceduresHighlight and resolve any design issues following verification calculations and analysisPerform hand calculations and FEA to verify equipment designCheck calculations, FEA and various engineering documents produced by other members of the teamConduct and document design review meetings and closeout actionsGenerate FDS (functional design specification) and TS (technical specification) and other documents for projects and products per the client’s requirementInput and manage the design elements of projects including design output, manufacture, QA, 3rd party verification/validation with respect to the technical, timeframe and commercial considerationsInput to departmental processes and contribute towards new or improved processes as necessaryDirect and mentor less experienced personnel as required during project or product design activitiesProvide support to field operation and site integration tests for the new product/project as requiredCTX/CTR preparation in support of proposals and internal product development and sustaining activitiesRequiredBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineMinimum 3 years’ experience working in the mechanical engineering environmentAble to use SolidWorks to create detailed models & drawings in support of projects and productsUse of Mathcad to verify designs by hand calculationsUse of SolidWorks/ Ansys or equivalent to perform FEA to verify equipment designGood working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, PowerPoint etc.)Familiar with the principles of design controlFamiliar with standards and specifications relevant to the Oil and Gas industryGood commercial awarenessWorking to designated standards and material selectionExperience with modelling and drafting using SolidWorksFamiliar with AutoCAD 2D draftingGood written and verbal communication skillsAble to deal with clients (internal and external)Able to work to tight deadlines and to budgetAble to manage design elements of projectsAble to mentor other less experienced team members and also personnel across the businessAble to work on own initiative and driven to develop own skillsExcellent team player with flexible attitude, and drive and enthusiasm
